We all went to the 4th of July parade in Kirkland this year. They have a kids parade first before the main parade, and any kids who want to participate can decorate their vehicle of choice and "march" in the parade. Miles rode his bike and was excited at first, until he realized that he was missing out on getting candy by being in the parade. As soon as he figured that out he wanted to leave the parade to collect candy. You can see a picture here of him trying chewing gum for the first time.
We thought the outing would be too long, hot, crowded and uninteresting for Micah, but we were wrong. He loved all the commotion, noises, music, and people. He even tried his first lollipop! (don't worry, it was still in the wrapper)
Later that night Miles watched his first fireworks display from our front porch. He thought it was interesting, but it was so late at night he just wanted to lie down.
